In-Building Network Convergence: Flexibility is Critical
The connectivity world is changing incredibly quickly, in multiple directions. We can see 5G, Wi-Fi6, optical LANs, cloud RAN, neutral hosts, IoT and evolving public safety needs, all arriving at the same time. Some things are certain – we will need more speed, lower latency, better coverage in all areas of buildings, and more manageability. But other aspects are still unknown – which bands will be needed indoors (including mmWave), whether ultra-low latency QoS can be guaranteed, the extent of private cellular networks, new business models, and sector-specific rules and customizations. This keynote session will set the scene, examining what we know for sure, and how the variables imply that flexibility is essential for future in-building network.
